Apple Brandy includes 100% apples from our own orchard at Kunes Farms in Frenchville, PA. After distillation it is then aged in used bourbon barrels for at least two years. With rich leathery aromas the taste is like drinking a ripe apple right out of the glass, with notes of oak and vanilla that balance perfectly with the fruitiness of the spirit.

History of Apple Brandy

Apple brandy has deep roots in American history—it was one of the earliest spirits produced in the colonies, especially in the Northeast where apples were abundant. Its origins go back even further to European traditions like French Calvados and German Obstler, which also used fruit-based distillation to create rich, fragrant spirits.


Brandy by Design

What makes it a "brandy"? By definition, brandy is a spirit distilled from fermented fruit—grape brandy comes from wine, while apple brandy comes from fermented apple juice or cider. Unlike whiskey, which is made from grain, or rum, made from sugarcane, brandy showcases the essence of fruit.


At B21, our Apple Brandy is crafted from 100% apples grown at Kunes Farms in Frenchville, PA. After distillation, we age it in used bourbon barrels for a minimum of two years. The result is a smooth, full-bodied spirit with warm oak and vanilla undertones, and the pure, orchard-fresh flavor of ripe Pennsylvania apples.
